I would like to know which Conservation Department in US museums are currently actually using, or planning to use the KE Conservation Module in their day to day conservation work? ANd will any of you be at the AIC mtgs in Denver for me to meet with and talk to? Just thinking about getting started and would like compare notes before I dive in.

thank you, Chris Del Re

More questions about how others are using the Conservation Module: how do you "store" frequently used pieces of text? such as a vacuuming method; or environmental recommendations - which can tend to be grouped? Are you putting this info into the Thesaurus module? If so can you elaborate?

with thanks, Chris Del Re

Hi Chris,

The IMA has recently customized our conservation and catalogue modules. We customized a tab in our catalogue module to move all recommendations for the care and handling of the work of art to be located in the object record. Thereby allowing staff to go to the catalogue record and note any handling restrictions or check the recommendations for the works without having to jump to other modules.

We are reviewing the best place to record information such as vacuuming or yearly cleaning of works. Presently we are recording all such information in the conservation module, but we are also exploring whether or not to use the Condition Check for noting such routine maintenance on works.

Hope this helps. Feel free to email me if you have any questions or want to discuss how to record such information - we are looking into the best way possible to use the modules.
