A lot of data entry (100,000s of records) is going at the NHM in applications external to EMu --- spreadsheets and user database applications. We are exploring importing these data in .xml format. One possibility is to use a 'mapper' to tranform the source files to EMu .xml structure. While an EMu .xml report provides some insight into the .xml structure needed, it does not contain a .xsd schema. If a .xsd report were available from EMu, it would make the tranformation of source files to 'EMu .xml' structure much simpler. Do other institutions think a .xsd report would be useful, one that could be used as a target for source file transformations? How do other institutions go about tranforming source files to EMu .xml structure? Darrell J. Siebert NHM, London |
